infoTOWN Bulletin Vol. 1

Official Release of infoTOWN Version 2.0
Edwards & Associates are pleased to announce the official release of infoTOWN.

(2.0) for Windows. infoTOWN is a municipal geographic information management system designed to assist large or small municipalities in the management of infrastructure information. infoTOWN uses CARIS as its graphic engine and is totally ODBC compliant. infoTOWN had been coded in Delphi and offers the following functionality:

  • Seamless integration with CARIS GIS
  • Operates with Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows NT
  • Modular file structure to permit phased implementation
  • Dynamic table structure to permit flexibility in data management and query building
  • Multi-tiered vertical databases called either from a graphics or drop down window
  • User or CARIS defined continuous databases
  • Point and Click water pressure analysis
  • Accommodate up to 99 different mapping backdrops
  • View multi vector and raster based images of entries in the management system
  • Full capability application processing, tracking and notification
  • Create customized reports with standard Windows spreadsheets or word processing packages via data exporting
  • Site customizable security implementation
  • View multi-media presentations of tourist sites within a municipality
  • Open third party programs such as AutoCAD in the infoTOWN graphics window
  • Linear network analysis to identify shut off valves and list properties affected by system shutdown
  • Zone overlay analysis to determine permitted land use classification, development standards etc.
  • Query properties by owner name, civic address etc.
  • Establish customizable preventative maintenance programs for entities such as fire hydrants, valves, street makings, grounds keeping etc.

Throughout the development of infoTOWN, staff at Edwards and Associates Ltd. has acquired specialized skills in building user friendly front-end applications for CARIS products. Edwards & Associates Ltd. are in a position to offer these skills on a contractual basis to other CARIS users. Front-end applications may be developed with Delphi, Visual Basic or C++ programming languages.
