This option offers an opportunity to analyze and optimize the Light
Distribution from street- lighting. Strategic placing of light poles will
improve efficiency and provide adequate lighting throughout the
municipality.
infoTOWN will display lighting distribution buffer zones around each
streetlight that is included in the system. Individual municipalities
determine the number of light poles that are included in this analysis.
You may choose to include all streetlights whether they are privately or
publicly owned, only those owned by the municipality or only those in a
specific area.
A
Light Buffers dialog box appears on the screen. This will allow you
to either accept the default buffers of 20m and 35m or to
enter another distance.
In the Map Viewing Area the Streetlights each display a
buffer consisting of the two distances that have been specified.
The green area represents the first distance o f
20m and the purple area represents the second distance of 35m. (At default
settings) This will give you an accurate picture of the Light Distribution
you have achieved with the existing streetlights. From here, decisions can
be made to improve efficiency in lighting by moving or adding light poles.
